Natural Eyelash Regrowth - Why Are My Eyelashes Falling Out?

Your eyelashes will fall off once they reach the end of their life cycle. This is perfectly normal and is called ciliary madarosis.  Some common causes of madarosis are physical trauma, blepharitis, or other medical conditions.  After madarosis, you should enter a dormant stage and then an eyelash regrowth time.  This cycle can be compromised however especially by hormonal imbalances and drugs.  People find eyelash regrowth after chemo to be a difficult process.

Waterproof mascara and eye makeup are some other common causes of eyelash loss. These products are notoriously difficult to remove and cling to your lashes like glue. Harshly rubbing and pulling on your lashes to remove mascara is a sure fire way to cause your eyelashes to fall out in clumps.

Blepharitis can be caused by mites, viral, and bacterial infections. Not only is this dangerous for your eyesight, but the hair follicles may be damaged and your eyelashes may grow back at odd angles.

Your eyelashes can also be falling out due to alopecia and hypothyroidism. Your lashes are growing less frequently and are more brittle and fragile.

Compulsive pulling and picking can also cause eyelashes to fall out. The hairs may be broken, or removed from the root. The name for this psychiatric condition is trichotillomania and is relatively rare.

Not to fear though, as long as the hair follicles are not damaged, you can stimulate and regrow your eyelashes.  A great way to accelerate your hair growth and shorten the eyelash regrowth time is with an eyelash growth conditioner.
